Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Professor Dr. Wa'ad Mahmoud Raoof, and with the direct supervision of the Dean of the College of Education, Tuz Khurmatu, Professor Dr. Nihad Ali Shafiq, and Assistant Professor Dr. Sayyaf Abd Hussein, Director of the Continuous Education Center, the College of Education, Tuz Khurmatu, in collaboration with the Holy Quran Institute, organized a scientific seminar titled:

"Quranic Awareness between Authenticity and Contemporary Reality: The Scourge of Narcotics as a Model"

The event was held on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

The seminar was delivered by the lecturer Mr. Hussein Yousef Al-Mousawi, Director of the Holy Quran Institute, affiliated with the Scientific Complex of the Holy Quran at the Holy Abbasid Shrine.

He addressed the role of the Holy Quran in building youth consciousness and protecting them from deviant behaviors, particularly focusing on the scourge of narcotics and its impact on society.The seminar included a Quranic competition with the participation of several students, and honorary gifts were distributed to the participants at the conclusion of the event.The seminar was attended by the Dean of the College, along with a group of college affiliates (staff) and students, which contributed to enriching the seminar's axes and enhancing engagement with its subject matter.

The seminar, titled: "Narcotics: Types and Health Effects" was held in the Hall of the Martyrs of Tuz Khurmatu. This activity is part of a series aimed at enhancing health and preventive awareness, in line with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University Presidency.

The seminar was presented by Assistant Lecturer Sajjad Abdullah Al-Maiti Ali, Assistant Lecturer Haidar Mahdi Ahmed, and Assistant Lecturer Ribwar Kamil Hussein.

The key axes of the seminar professionally and concisely addressed:

• Classification: The different types of narcotics.
• Health Impact: Clarifying the immediate and long-term health consequences of substance abuse on various body systems.

The primary objective was to equip students with the necessary knowledge to protect themselves from this dangerous scourge and to build an effective preventive barrier.

"The Dangers of Narcotics and their Impact on the Individual and the Family"

The seminar took place today, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at the College of Education, Tuz Khurmatu. This activity was specifically conducted as part of the weekly anti-narcotics campaign called for by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and in accordance with the directives of the Presidency of Tikrit University, aiming to enhance awareness and preventive behavior among students and the community.

The seminar was presented by Assistant Lecturer Haidar Mahdi Ahmed and Assistant Lecturer Sajjad Abdullah Hussein. The main axes focused on clarifying the psychological and social risks of narcotics on the individual and their destructive impact on family cohesion, emphasizing the paramount importance of the awareness role in combating this dangerous societal scourge.

"The Scourge of Drugs and their Impact on Human Behavior"

The event took place in the Hall of the Martyrs of Tuz Khurmatu as part of the weekly anti-drug awareness activity mandated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Presidency of Tikrit University.

The seminar was presented by Dr. Abdul Sattar Saleh Asi, Assistant Lecturer Ramadan Muhammad Qader, and Assistant Lecturer Haider Aziz Asghar. It covered several key axes, including:

• Definition and Impact of Drugs: Explaining narcotics and their destructive effects on mood, behavior, cognition, and social relationships.
• Societal Impact: Analyzing the devastating societal consequences, such as the spread of crime, poverty, and family disintegration.
• Causes and Treatment: Addressing the causes of drug addiction (e.g., social pressure, escaping problems) and methods of treatment, including psychological support, medical therapy, and rehabilitation programs.
• Prevention: Providing advice for prevention and promoting awareness among youth.

The seminar concluded by emphasizing that drugs are a scourge threatening both the individual and society, and confronting them is a shared responsibility requiring cooperation.

At the end of the seminar, the Dean and the organizers distributed awareness brochures to the students to enhance their knowledge and promote preventive behavior.
