In response to a gracious invitation, Professor Dr. Nihad Ali Shafeeq, Dean of the College of Education in Tuz Khurmatu, accompanied by a delegation of faculty, staff, and students, attended the "My City Reads" festival on Monday, April 20, 2026. This participation underscores the College’s commitment to supporting local cultural and literary initiatives and reflects its belief in the necessity of bridging academic institutions with community efforts aimed at promoting literacy and knowledge. Organized by the Tuz Literary Forum with the support of the Tuz District Mayor’s Office and in cooperation with the Department of Education, the festival featured a comprehensive book fair showcasing various publishing houses, alongside educational activities, artistic performances, and cultural seminars attended by intellectuals, academics, and students. The College of Education remains dedicated to engaging in forums that advance the scientific and educational movement, expressing its profound appreciation for the organizers of this distinguished cultural event.

Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education in Tuz Khurmatu, Professor Dr. Nihad Ali Shafiq, and the Director of the Continuing Education Center, Assistant Professor Dr. Sayyaf Abdul Hussein, and with the attendance of a group of faculty members, staff, and students, a course was held from April 14 to 16, 2026, in the Tuz Khurmatu Martyrs Hall. The course program included a series of scientific lectures presented by Dr. Bassam Ibrahim Ali, Dr. Warda Mizer Thamer, and Ms. Elaf Talaat Othman, who reviewed the historical roots of pragmatics and its relationship to semiotics. The attendees actively participated in the discussions, enriching the academic and research progress of the college.

Attended by a distinguished group of faculty members, staff, and students, the seminar featured a scholarly lecture presented by Lecturer Assistant Nouray Asghar Hameed, which investigated the impact of anxiety on student performance in English language acquisition. The presentation addressed the underlying psychological factors and highlighted key pedagogical strategies designed to mitigate anxiety and enhance linguistic achievement. The event witnessed significant academic engagement from the audience, fostering substantive discussions and interventions aimed at enriching the educational process and elevating academic performance within the college.

In line with the strategy of fostering academic and educational cooperation between educational institutions and maintaining a policy of outreach toward secondary schools, the College of Education at Tuz Khurmatu welcomed a delegation of female students from Tuz Secondary School for Gifted Girls, accompanied by their faculty, on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. This field visit aimed to introduce students to the university environment and provide firsthand insights into various scientific and humanities specializations. The visit included a comprehensive tour of the college’s laboratories, where students visited the computer, biology, and physics labs and received simplified demonstrations from academic staff regarding laboratory equipment and experimental protocols. Furthermore, the students experienced campus life by attending lectures in the Departments of Arabic Language and Mathematics, while gaining an overview of other academic departments and their respective curricula. This initiative falls under the category of exploratory educational field visits, designed to enhance academic awareness and motivate students to make informed decisions regarding their future career paths.
