Dr. Bassam Ibrahim Ali, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs at the College of Education, Tuz Khurmatu – University of Tikrit, represented the college at the second edition of the Iraq Education Conference 2025. The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Naim Al-Aboudi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and featured the participation of international experts and representatives from prestigious institutions, including Times Higher Education (THE), Clarivate, Elsevier, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.

Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, President of the University of Tikrit, also attended the conference, actively engaging in its scientific and dialogue sessions. He underscored the critical importance of academic collaboration with global educational and research institutions to advance the performance of Iraqi universities and enhance their international profile.

In his opening address, the Minister of Higher Education affirmed that the achievements of the past three years in higher education and scientific research represent a qualitative transformation in the philosophy of university education. This shift has propelled Iraqi universities into the realm of international recognition and positioned them at the core of the global academic map.

Dr. Al-Aboudi further stated that Iraq is committed to making its higher education system a platform for innovation and internationalization, capable of attracting students from various countries and convening researchers across diverse specializations. He emphasized the necessity of expanding productive international partnerships and ensuring Iraqi universities become active participants in the global academic system, especially after achieving advanced rankings in international classifications and establishing a presence in reputable research repositories.

The conference launch was marked by broad attendance, including Mr. Nick Davis, representative of Times Higher Education; Mr. Sherif Ali El Shamy, Vice President of Clarivate; Dr. Diaa Medhat, representative of Elsevier; Dr. Ola Lawrence, Advisor to the Egyptian Knowledge Bank; and Dr. Talal Youssef, representative of QS. Also present were the Dean of Iraqi Academics, several presidents of public and private universities, college deans, and representatives of diplomatic missions.

During the event, Dr. Bassam Ibrahim Ali attended the dialogue session focused on the strategy for regional and international academic attraction, which discussed methods for fostering academic interaction and recruiting scientific expertise at both local and global levels. Dr. Bassam also held meetings with experts from Times Higher Education and international scientific journals, in addition to meeting with Professor Dr. Haider Abd Zhid, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. These engagements reflect his commitment to the importance of academic and research cooperation and elevating the level of international openness for Iraqi universities.

The Departments of Mathematics and Life Sciences at the College of Education, Tuz Khurmatu, Tikrit University, organize a festival on the occasion of Iraqi National Day.

The Departments of Mathematics and Life Sciences at the College of Education, Tuz Khurmatu, organized a celebratory festival titled "Iraqi National Day" on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in the Martyrs' Hall.

The festival was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Nihad Ali Shafiq, along with a number of faculty members, staff, and students. The ceremony commenced with the playing of the Iraqi National Anthem and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatiha in remembrance of the martyrs of Iraq and the Islamic nation.

The Dean delivered a speech welcoming the attendees and commending the outstanding efforts of the Departments of Mathematics and Life Sciences in organizing this national festival, which fosters a spirit of belonging and patriotism among the students.

The program included poetry segments about the homeland and sacrifices, a quiz competition with the distribution of symbolic gifts, in addition to a moving segment where attendees placed their handprints on a map of Iraq as an expression of loyalty and devotion to the nation.

The festival concluded with the honoring of the martyrs' families and the presentation of certificates of appreciation in recognition of their sacrifices in defense of Iraq.

A ministerial committee evaluates academic performance at the College of Education in Tuz Khurmatu.

In adherence to the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's commitment to quality assurance standards, an academic evaluation committee from the Ministry conducted a field visit to the College of Education in Tuz Khurma on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

The delegation, led by Professor Dr. Mamdouh Salem Mohammed from Tikrit University and including two members from Mosul University, Professor Dr. Mohammed Ismail and Professor Dr. Ahmed Waadallah, was received by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Nehad Ali Shafiq.

The committee commended the efforts of the College's Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Unit, appreciating its dedication to implementing the necessary requirements for academic advancement. The committee also provided significant observations and recommendations aimed at enhancing performance and developing academic operations.

This visit is part of the committee's action plan to prepare a comprehensive report on the performance of Tikrit University's colleges, with the objective of contributing to the elevation of higher education quality and supporting its trajectory in the country.

Meeting of the Deans' Committee of Faculties of Education for the Humanities in Iraqi Universities

Professor Dr. Nihad Ali Shafiq, Dean of the College of Education in Tuz Khurmatu, University of Tikrit, attended the meeting of the Committee of Deans of Colleges of Education for Human Sciences in Iraqi Universities. The meeting took place at the College of Education for Human Sciences, University of Mosul, on Sunday, September 28, 2025, with the participation of the deans and representatives of the various Iraqi universities.

The agenda of the meeting covered a number of crucial issues, notably the development of curricula and the enhancement of mechanisms for scientific and academic cooperation among the universities. Furthermore, discussions focused on viable ways to elevate the educational landscape within the sector. Emphasis was also placed on the necessity of following up on established scientific plans and improving both graduate and undergraduate programs in a manner that contributes to reinforcing the quality and integrity of higher education.
