The chess championship at the College of Education in Tuz Khurmatu is an intellectual event that promotes academic interaction.

Under the supervision of Mr. Ibrahim Ismail Jassim, the Sports Activities Unit at the College of Education/Tuz Khurmatu organized a chess championship featuring 14 participants, including faculty, staff, and students, within a competitive atmosphere characterized by high mental focus and sportsmanship. This tournament aligns with the institution’s strategic objectives to enhance cognitive abilities and strategic thinking skills while fostering positive social interaction across the academic community to maintain a stimulating and integrated educational environment. Hussein Ali Mohsen, a fourth-year student from the Department of Physics, secured first place and was awarded the championship trophy following a distinguished performance that demonstrated exceptional tactical proficiency. The event was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Nihad Ali Shafiq, who commended the organizing committee and emphasized the significance of supporting extracurricular activities that cultivate intellectual development and strengthen institutional communication. Furthermore, the documented activities reflect the college's commitment to promoting physical well-being alongside academic excellence.
